DreamCity Studios
What is this “DreamCity Studios” thing, anyway?
Well, to answer that question, I feel that I should first explain what the DreamCity is. The “Dream City” is a concept representing a place that is going to exist in humanity's future. In a nutshell it is, or rather, will be a sprawling mega-city featuring buildings so large that their tenants could live out their entire lives without ever having ventured outside. It is a “dream” city not because I feel that it is an ideal place to live, but because I have visited it many times in my dreams. While the DreamCity is a place (or collection of places) that will exist in our future, my dreams have taken me to it's past, present and future. This leads me to the artwork you see in the header of this site... The DreamCity in its “late-prime” years.
A number of years ago, a good friend, and band-mate of mine had left Chicago to live in Atlanta for a few years. It was during this time period that I began “visiting” the DreamCity. As it turns out, he and I (and a few others) were simultaneously dreaming about the same place. My friend, being a talented painter, created the piece you see there entitled “The Dream City” while in Atlanta, and later gave it to me for safe-keeping upon learning that we were dreaming of the same place at the same time.
That city that we visited in our dreams (which we believe to be located on top of present-day Milwaukee, Chicago and Gary), represents a future of great possibilities to me. Since I had been searching for a brand name and identity for my freelance sound engineering company, and my artist friend and I had been in a band together and best friends for many years, “DreamCity Studios” became the obvious choice. It originally represented everything I do: from application development, to graphic design and photography, to music production and DJ-ing, but now it has grown to encompass the artistic works of several like-minded people.
I hope you enjoy the content presented here as much as we've enjoyed creating it.
Sincerely,
